Lab Manager for Analytical Equipment Testing Laboratory
We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Lab Manager to oversee the operations of our analytical equipment laboratory, which specializes in testing dissolved metals in water. Our lab is staffed by several accomplished technical professionals dedicated to advancing our testing equipment capabilities. The ideal candidate will be a leader who can facilitate and support the team’s focus on their activities, ensuring smooth operations and fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration.
The laboratory team consists of chemistry, physics, software and hardware engineers.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership and Collaboration: Serve as a collaborative leader for a team of technical professionals. Facilitate communication and collaboration within the team to ensure that all members can focus effectively on their tasks. Foster a positive and innovative work environment.
- Project Management: Manage the lab’s agile project management system, utilizing Jira to track, prioritize, and assign tasks related to testing and equipment improvement projects. Ensure that project milestones are met and that the team remains on track with their objectives.
- Supply and Logistics Management: Oversee the procurement and management of lab supplies and equipment. Ensure that all necessary materials are available and that equipment is maintained and functioning properly. Manage logistics to support uninterrupted lab operations.
- Educational and Technical Expertise: Apply knowledge in chemistry, particularly Spectroscopy, to support and guide the lab’s testing processes. Utilize a basic understanding of Python for data analysis.
- Sales Team Support: Attend sales meetings to understand client needs and requirements. Translate client needs into actionable tasks within the lab, ensuring that testing and development efforts align with client expectations and requirements.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure that the laboratory operates in compliance with all relevant safety and quality standards. Implement and maintain safety protocols, conducting regular safety audits and training sessions for lab personnel.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field. Knowledge in spectroscopy is highly desirable. A basic understanding of Python is required.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience managing a laboratory, preferably in an analytical or chemical testing environment. Experience with agile project management and using Jira is valuable.
- Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills.
